Session A8: Engaging with users
DescriptionOne deliverable of the DIGICOM project is to set up a social network platform for engaging with statistics users. The launch of a pilot social network is scheduled for the end of 2016. An important part of this work is of course to understand the users' need. ONS has extensive experience on gaining a grounded understanding of what their users need through qualitative discovery research. When developing a new website ONS used a persona approach that gave them the understanding that different users have different needs and may use the same tool/system in very different ways. The same concept can be used for the DIGICOM social network. In the session we will discuss what user research is, explore some of the popular methods and see some of the benefits of carrying out this research.
