Session D11: Integration of data from several sources and use of administrative data
DescriptionIntegrating multiple data sources effectively has the potential to provide more timely and more detailed statistics and new official statistics for new data needs at both the national and international level. Similarly, using already existing administrative data sources instead of conducting primary data collection by means of traditional censuses and surveys has a great potential for cost reduction. However, these gains might come at the cost of certain quality aspects, such as the relevance and accuracy of the official statistics produced. At this session, the advantages and drawbacks associated with the use of new data sources will be discussed.
