Cattle stock increases further

The increase of the cattle stock, lasting since 2010, continued. The sheep stock grew by 6 thousand, while the pig stock decreased by 37 thousand and the chicken stock by 183 thousand over the past year.

On 1 December 2017:

18 thousand more cattle were surveyed compared to the stock of 1 December 2016, their number approximated 870 thousand. The cow stock increased by 12 thousand to 395 thousand over a year.

The number of pigs was 2.9 million, 37 thousand fewer than a year earlier. The number of breeding sows was lowered by 6 thousand compared to the stock of December 2016.

The number of chickens was 32 million, 183 thousand fewer compared to one year earlier. The stock of laying hens was 11 million, lessening by 252 thousand over a year.

The sheep stock was 1.1 million and the number of ewes was 810 thousand, the former being 6 thousand more and the latter 10 thousand more than on 1 December 2016.

In December 2017 compared to June 2017:

Cattle and cow stocks both increased, the former by 6 thousand and the latter by 1 thousand.

The number of pigs rose by 63 thousand, the number of breeding sows became 4 thousand fewer.
