14.4% decrease in the volume of construction output in November
The volume of construction output was 14.4% lower in November 2016 than a year earlier. Output decreased in both main groups of constructions: the construction of buildings decreased year-on-year by 2.5% and that of civil engineering works by 25.7%. Based on seasonally and working day adjusted indices, construction output increased by 1.7% in November compared to the previous month.

The volume of output decreased in both main groups of constructions: by 2.5% in the construction of buildings and by 25.7% in that of civil engineering works. The decline in the construction of civil engineering works was primarily caused by the completion of works performed from EU funds at the end of 2015. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the largest decrease was recorded in the output of utility construction enterprises in November.
Out of the divisions of construction, output increased by 3.1% in the division of the construction of buildings and, in contrast, it fell by 37.6% in civil engineering and by 6.6% in specialised construction activities.
The volume of new contracts was 28.2% lower than in the same period of the previous year, within which the volume of new contracts concluded was down by 23.1% for the construction of buildings and by 34.9% for the construction of civil engineering works. In the construction, high-value contracts with long-term implementation may cause a significant month by month change in volume indices.
At the end of November, the month-end volume of the stock of contracts of construction enterprises was 24.0% higher than the previous year's low base. Within this, the volume of the stock of contracts was 8.7 % lower for the construction of buildings and 58.8% higher for the construction of civil engineering works.
