Construction output volume increased by 28.2% in June
The volume of construction output was 28.2% higher in June 2018 than a year earlier based on raw data. Output increased in both main groups of construction: in the construction of buildings by 15.2% and in civil engineering works by 48.8%. Based on seasonally and working day adjusted indices, construction output increased by 7.2% in June compared to the previous month. In the second quarter construction producer prices increased by 9.2% compared to the same period of the previous year.
In June 2018, compared to the same month of the previous year:
The volume of output increased in both main groups of construction: in the construction of buildings by 15.2% and in civil engineering works by 48.8%. In the construction of buildings group the increase was due to educational, industrial, commercial and dwelling constructions; in civil engineering it was due to road, - railway- and utility projects’ construction.
Out of the divisions of construction, output increased by 30.8% in the construction of buildings, by 54.5% in civil engineering, and specialised construction activities grew by 12.6%.
The volume of new contracts increased by 0.6%, within this the volume of new contracts concluded in the construction of buildings decreased by 12.1% whereas in the construction of civil engineering works it increased by 8.1%. In June high value new contracts were concluded for development of traffic infrastructure.
At the end of June the volume of month-end stock of contracts at construction enterprises was 62.1% higher year-on-year. The volume of the stock of contracts was 7.5% higher for the construction of buildings and 82.9% higher for the construction of civil engineering works than a year earlier.
In January-June 2018, compared to the same period of the previous year:
Construction production rose by 19.1%.
Construction Producer Prices:
Within the divisions of construction in the 2nd quarter prices increased by 11.7% in the construction of buildings, by 6.9% in civil engineering and by 9.3% in the greatest weight carrying specialized construction activities compared to the same period of the previous year.
Construction prices increased quarter-on-quarter by 2.3%.
