Construction output volume increased by 17.5% in December

The volume of construction output, based on raw data, was 17.5% higher in December 2018 than a year earlier. Output increased in both main groups of construction: in the construction of buildings by 14.8% and in civil engineering works by 21.9%. Based on seasonally and working day adjusted indices construction output decreased by 2.4% compared to the previous month. In 2018 contstruction output grew by 22.3% compared to 2017. In the year as a whole, construction producer prices were on average 9.5% higher than in the previous year.

In December 2018, compared to the same month of the previous year:

The volume of output increased in both main groups of construction: in the construction of buildings by 14.8% and in civil engineering works by 21.9%. In the construction of buildings the increase was due to industrial, commercial and dwelling constructions; in civil engineering projects road, railway and utility constructions continued to generate the growth.

Out of the divisions of construction, output volume increased by 21.2% in the construction of buildings, by 18.6% in civil engineering, and in specialised construction activities by 14.5%.

The volume of new contracts decreased by 71.9%, related to the high base of December 2017, within this the volume of new contracts concluded in the construction of buildings went up by 21.3%, in the construction of civil engineering works the volume fell by 86.0% year-on-year. In December contracts of high value were singed for industrial, traffic and cultural bildings.

The volume of the December month-end stock of contracts at construction enterprises decreased by 7.7% year-on-year. The stock of contracts volume decreased by 7.3% for the construction of buildings and went down by 7.8% for the construction of civil engineering works compared to the December 2017 data.

In January-December 2018 compared to the same period of the previous year:

Construction production rose by 22.3%. Construction of dwelling grew by 16.0% while that of civil engineering works increased by 31.4% in 2018.

Construction Producer Prices:

In the 4th quarter construction producer prices increased by 10.7% compared to the same period of 2017. Within the divisions of construction prices increased by 13.2% in the construction of buildings, by 8.0% in civil engineering and by 10.7% in the greatest weight carrying specialized construction activities compared to the 4th quarter of 2017.

In the 4th quarter construction prices increased by 2.3% compared to the previous quarter.
