Construction output volume increased by 40.1% in April
The volume of construction output, based on raw data, was 40.1% higher in April 2019 than a year earlier. The volume of output increased in both main groups of construction: in the construction of buildings by 34.3%, in civil engineering works by 47.9%. Based on seasonally and working day adjusted indices, construction output decreased by 3.8% compared to the March data.

The volume of output increased in both main groups of construction: in the construction of buildings by 34.3%, in civil engineering works by 47.9%. In the construction of buildings, the increase was due to industrial, residential and office buildings; in civil engineering projects, road and railway constructions continued to generate the growth.
Out of the divisions of construction, output volume increased by 54.3% in the construction of buildings, by 47.9% in civil engineering, and in specialised construction activities by 23.4%.
The volume of new contracts decreased by 4.4%, within this the volume of new contracts concluded in the construction of buildings went up by 19.0%, in the construction of civil engineering works the volume declined by 19.0% year-on-year. Among buildings, in addition to high value industrial investments, contracts were signed mainly for educational and sport facilities.
The volume of the April month-end stock of contracts at construction enterprises decreased by 6.0% year-on-year. The stock of contracts volume increased by 50.3% for the construction of buildings and went down by 19.3% for the construction of civil engineering works compared to the end of April 2018 data.
In the first four months of the year, compared to the same period of the previous year:
The volume of output of construction grew by 45.8%.
