Construction output volume decreased by 16.2% in one year, and increased by 1.3% compared to the previous month
The volume of construction output based on raw data was 16.2% lower in October 2020 compared to the previous year. Output decreased in both main groups of construction: in the construction of buildings by 5.3%, in civil engineering by 26.5%. Based on seasonally and working day adjusted indices construction output increased by 1.3% compared to the September data, since June each month’s output was higher than the previous one’s, and in October it surpassed the nadir of May by 11.8%. The increase is due to the growth in work done on buildings.
In October 2020, compared to the same month of the previous year:
Output decreased in both main groups of construction: in the construction of buildings by 5.3% and in civil engineering by 26.5%.
Out of the divisions of construction, output went down by 11.0% in the construction of buildings, by 36.4% in civil engineering, specialised construction activities lessened by 3.2%.
The volume of new contracts concluded increased by 17.3%, within it the volume of new contracts for the construction of buildings grew by 16.1%, the volume regarding civil engineering works rose by 18.5%.
The volume of the October end-of –month stock of contracts at construction enterprises was 10.0% lower than at the end of October 2019. The volume of contracts increased by 25.0% for the construction of buildings and decreased by 23.0% for civil engineering works compared to the previous year.
In the first ten months of 2020, compared to the same period of the previous year:
Construction output lessened by 11.7%.
