Prices up by 1.9%

Consumer prices were 1.9% higher on average in June 2017 than this time last year. The highest price rises over the past year were measured for alcoholic beverages and tobacco as well as food.

In June 2017 compared to June 2016:

Consumer prices increased by 1.9% on average. Food prices rose by 3.1%, within which the price of pork by 15.7%, sugar prices by 10.7%, the price of cheese by 9.2%, that of other meat preparations by 7.9% and bread prices by 4.8%. The price of poultry meat was cut by 15.8%. The highest price rise of 4.6% on average was recorded for alcoholic beverages and tobacco. Consumers paid on average 1.4% more for services, 0.9% more for other goods (pharmaceutical products, motor fuels, household products and recreational goods), 0.7% more for electricity, gas and other fuels and 0.2% more for clothing and footwear. Consumer durables cost 0.4% less for consumers.

In June 2017 compared to May 2017:

Consumer prices were unchanged on average. Food prices also remained unchanged as a whole, within which, however, the price of pork rose by 2.5%, margarine prices by 1.0% and the prices of edible oil, bread and rolls by 0.8% each, while seasonal food items (potatoes, fresh vegetables and fruits) became 2.5% and flour 1.8% cheaper. Out of the main groups of consumption the highest, 0.7% price increase was recorded for alcoholic beverages and tobacco. Services prices were up by 0.3%. The prices of clothing and footwear as well as electricity, gas and other fuels were unchanged. Consumers paid 0.2% less for consumer durables. The price of other goods decreased by 0.6%, within which that of motor fuels by 1.7%.

In January–June 2017 compared to the same period of the previous year:

Consumer prices went up by 2.3% on average.
