Prices increased by 3.7% in March

Consumer prices were 3.7% higher on average in March 2019 than a year earlier. Significant price rises were measured over the past year for alcoholic beverages and tobacco as well as food.

In March 2019 compared to March 2018:

Food prices were up by 5.4%, within which the price of seasonal food items (potatoes, fresh vegetables and fruits) became 21.1%, flour prices 12.3%, the price of rolls 9.8% and bread prices 6.7% higher, while the price of eggs 12.5%, milk prices 7.2% and the price of sugar 3.9% lower. The price of alcoholic beverages and tobacco rose by 8.0% on average, within which tobacco prices by 10.9%. Consumers paid 3.0% more for services, within which 12.4% more for the repairs and maintenance of dwellings and 6.0% more for recreational services. Motor fuels became 3.7% more expensive.

In March 2019 compared to February 2019:

Consumer prices increased by 0.7% on average. Food prices rose by 0.5%, within which the price of seasonal food items by 2.0%, cheese prices by 1.8% and flour prices by 1.7%. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco cost 1.0%, within which tobacco 1.3% more for consumers. Services prices were up by 0.5%, within which 1.7% more was paid for recreational services. Motor fuels became 4.2% more expensive.

In January–March 2019 compared to the same period of the previous year:

Consumer prices went up by 3.2% on average.
