Prices increased by 3.4% in June

Consumer prices were 3.4% higher on average in June 2019 than a year earlier. Significant price rises were measured over the past year for alcoholic beverages and tobacco as well as food.

In the last 12 months compared to June 2018:

Food prices went up by 5.8%, within which the price of seasonal food items (potatoes, fresh vegetables and fruits) became 17.7% more expensive, pork prices increased by 12.1%, flour prices by 11.4%, the price of rolls by 8.6%, and the price of bread by 8.0%, while milk prices decreased by 5.7%, coffee by 4.3% and eggs by 2.6%. The price of alcoholic beverages and tobacco rose by 7.1% on average, within which tobacco prices increased by 9.5%. Consumers paid 3.1% more for services, within which 6.0% more for recreational services. Motor fuels became 1.3% cheaper.

In one month, compared to May 2019:

Consumer prices decreased by 0.2% on average. Food prices were reduced by 0.1%, dominantly due to a 2.4% decrease in the price of seasonal food items (potatoes, fresh vegetables and fruits) – excluding this latter group, food prices went up by 0.2% on average. In this group, pork cost 2.1%, bread 1.0% and cheese 0,5% more for consumers, while the prices of other milk products decreased by 1.5%. Prices of services increased by 0.4%, within which the fees for other public entertainment services rose by 1.9%. Prices of consumer durables decreased by 0.5% and the price of motor fuels by 3.7%.

In January–June 2019 compared to the same period of the previous year:

Consumer prices went up by 3.5% on average.
