Industrial production increased by 3.6%

In November 2019 the volume of industrial output grew by 3.6% year-on-year. Based on working-day adjusted data, production rose by 5.7%.

In November 2019:

The volume of industrial production increased by 3.6% year-on-year. (Compared to the November data published in the first estimate, the data in the second estimate did not change.)

Industrial output – according to the seasonally and working-day adjusted index – was below the previous month’s level by 1.0%.

The volume of industrial export grew by 1.9% year-on-year. Transport equipment export, representing a 35% weight within export sales in manufacturing, declined by 0.3%; while the export in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products accounting for an 18% weight rose by 12.0%.

Industrial domestic sales increased by 1.7%, within it domestic sales in manufacturing were 2.6% higher compared to the same month of the previous year.

Within industry, production grew by 4.2% in the decisive weight (96%) representing manufacturing, at the same time it decreased by 4.0% in the small weight representing mining and quarrying and by 0.8% in the energy industry (electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply).

The rate of growth slackened in the largest weight representing manufacture of transport equipment accounting for 28% of manufacturing: the output exceeded the production level of the previous year by 4.0% in November. The volume of motor vehicles manufacturing rose by 1.5%, while the manufacture of parts and accessories for motor vehicles increased by 5.5%.

The manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products accounting for 13% of manufacturing grew by 8.8%. Out of the two most significant groups the manufacture of consumer electronics went up by 28%, the manufacture of communication equipment rose by 0.7%.

The manufacture of food products, beverages and tobacco products having an 11% share of manufacturing increased by 4.5% compared to the same month of the previous year, sales rose in both sales directions. Out of the groups the processing and preserving meat and the production of meat products, representing the largest weight (27%) went up by 4.8%, while the manufacture of beverages, the second most significant group grew by 3.5%. Decreases were recorded in two groups only: in manufacture of vegetable and animal oils and fats (by 9.1%), and in the small weight carrying manufacture of tobacco products (by 18.8%).

The performance of the two medium-weight representing subsections turned out differently in November, too: the manufacture of rubber and plastics products, and other non-metallic mineral products rose by 2.0%, at the same time the manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products dropped by 1.9%.

The manufacture of electrical equipment having a smaller weight grew at the highest rate among the subsections: by 17.6% year-on-year, due to a favourable tendency in both domestic and export sales.

The rate of growth accelerated in the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations: the production went up by 10.8% in November, mainly as a result of an expansion in export sales.

The manufacture of textiles, wearing apparel, leather and related products fell the most, by 14.8%, decreases were measured in almost every class.
