Average gross earnings amounted to HUF 352,200

In March 2019, average gross earnings amounted to HUF 367,200, 10.2% higher than a year earlier. In January-March 2019, average gross earnings amounted to HUF 352,200 and average net earnings to HUF 234,200; both of them grew by 11.0% compared to the same period of the previous year.

In March 2019:

Full-time employees’ average gross nominal earnings – as defined by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office – at corporations employing at least 5 persons, budgetary institutions and non-profit organisations, which are significant in respect of employment, amounted to HUF 367,200 and to HUF 377,100 excluding fostered workers.

Average net earnings were HUF 244,200 excluding tax benefits and HUF 251,600 including them.

Both gross and net earnings grew to the same extent by 10.2%, compared to the same period of the previous year.

In January–March 2019:

Full-time employees’ average gross nominal earnings – as defined by the Hungarian Statistical Office – at corporations employing at least 5 persons, budgetary institutions and non-profit organizations which are significant in respect of employment, amounted to HUF 352,200 and to HUF 362,600 excluding fostered workers.

Average net earnings were HUF 234,200 excluding tax benefits, and HUF 241,500 including them.

Both gross earnings and net earnings grew by 11.0%, compared to the same period last year.

Average gross earnings were the highest in information and communication (HUF 632,300) and the lowest (HUF 232,300) in human health and social work activities employing the majority of fostered workers. Excluding the data of fostered workers, average gross earnings amounted to HUF 299,200 in human health and social work activities.

Full-time employees’ average gross earnings amounted to HUF 385,100 for men and to HUF 320,000 for women, representing increases of 11.6% and 10.0%, respectively over one year.

Average gross earnings of full time employees under the age of 25 reached HUF 269,500, were HUF 366,900 for those between 25–54 years of age and HUF 342,700 for those above 54 years. The year-on-year growth of earnings in the above age groups was 17.2%, 11.2% and 10.3% respectively.

Regular gross earnings (gross earnings without premiums and one-month bonuses) amounted to HUF 330,000, 10.7% higher than a year earlier.

Along with the 3.2% rise in consumer prices compared to the same period of the previous year, real earnings increased by 7.6%.
