Average gross earnings amounted to HUF 358,400
In May 2019, average gross earnings amounted to HUF 364,400, 11.2% higher than a year earlier. In January-May 2019, average gross earnings amounted to HUF 358,400 and average net earnings to HUF 238,300; both of them grew by 10.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.
In May 2019:
Full-time employees’ average gross nominal earnings – as defined by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office – at corporations employing at least 5 persons, budgetary institutions and non-profit organisations, which are significant in respect of employment, amounted to HUF 364,400 and to HUF 374,700 excluding fostered workers.
Average net earnings were HUF 242,300 excluding tax benefits and HUF 249,800 including them.
Both gross earnings and net earnings excluding tax benefits grew by 11.2%, while net earnings including tax benefits rose by 11.3% compared to the same period of the previous year.
In January–May 2019:
Full-time employees’ average gross nominal earnings – as defined by the Hungarian Statistical Office – at corporations employing at least 5 persons, budgetary institutions and non-profit organizations which are significant in respect of employment, amounted to HUF 358,400 and to HUF 368,900 excluding fostered workers.
Average net earnings were HUF 238,300 excluding tax benefits, and HUF 245,700 including them.
Both gross earnings and net earnings excluding tax benefits grew by 10.6%, while net earnings including tax benefits rose by 10.7% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Average gross earnings were the highest in financial and insurance activities (HUF 666,100) and the lowest (HUF 235,200) in human health and social work activities employing the majority of fostered workers. Excluding the data of fostered workers, average gross earnings amounted to HUF 302,000 in human health and social work activities.
Full-time employees’ average gross earnings amounted to HUF 392,900 for men and to HUF 324,300 for women, representing increases of 11.4% and 9.5%, respectively over one year.
Average gross earnings of full time employees under the age of 25 reached HUF 273,800, were HUF 373,400 for those between 25–54 years of age and HUF 349,600 for those above 54 years. The year-on-year growth of earnings in the above age groups was 16.8%, 10.8% and 10.2% respectively.
Regular gross earnings (gross earnings without premiums and one-month bonuses) were estimated at HUF 332,000, 10.1% higher than a year earlier.
Along with the 3.5% rise in consumer prices compared to the same period of the previous year, real earnings increased by 6.9%.
