Average gross earnings amounted to HUF 359,800
In August 2019, average gross earnings amounted to HUF 358,900, 11.5% higher than a year earlier. In January–August 2019, average gross earnings amounted to HUF 359,800 and average net earnings to HUF 239,300; both of them grew by 10.7% compared to the same period of the previous year.
In August 2019:
Full-time employees’ average gross nominal earnings – as defined by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office – at corporations employing at least 5 persons, budgetary institutions and non-profit organisations which are significant in respect of employment, amounted to HUF 358,900 and to HUF 368,700 excluding fostered workers.
Average net earnings were HUF 238,700 excluding tax benefits and HUF 246,000 including them.
Both average gross earnings and average net earnings excluding tax benefits grew by 11.5%, while average net earnings including tax benefits rose by 11.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.
In January–August 2019:
Full-time employees’ average gross nominal earnings – as defined by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office – at corporations employing at least 5 persons, budgetary institutions and non-profit organizations which are significant in respect of employment, amounted to HUF 359,800 and to HUF 370,100 excluding fostered workers.
Average net earnings were HUF 239,300 excluding tax benefits, and HUF 246,700 including them.
Both average gross earnings and average net earnings excluding tax benefits grew by 10.7%, while average net earnings including tax benefits rose by 10.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Average gross earnings were the highest in financial and insurance activities (HUF 661,700) and the lowest (HUF 236,200) in accommodation and food service activities.
Full-time employees’ average gross earnings amounted to HUF 393,600 for men and to HUF 327,300 for women, representing increases of 11.4% and 9.8%, respectively over one year.
Average gross earnings of full-time employees under the age of 25 reached HUF 276,600, were HUF 375,000 for those between 25–54 years of age and HUF 353,700 for those over 54 years. The year-on-year growth of earnings in the above age groups was 16.7%, 11.0% and 10.3% respectively.
Average gross regular earnings (gross earnings without premiums and one-month bonuses) were estimated at HUF 336,800, 10.6% higher than a year earlier.
Along with the 3.4% rise in consumer prices compared to the same period of the previous year, real earnings increased by 7.1%.
