Average gross earnings amounted to HUF 440,600

In April 2021 full-time employees’ gross average earnings were HUF 440,600 while average net earnings without tax benefits reached HUF 293,000; both grew by 10.1% year-on-year. Average gross earnings grew by 9.0% in the business sector, while in the budgetary sector the increase was significantly higher, 12.7%, due to planned wage raises in certain government branches. In January–April 2021 average gross earnings amounted to HUF 425,400, average net earnings were HUF 282,900; both grew by 9.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.

In April 2021:

Full-time employees’ average gross earnings (as defined by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office) at corporations employing at least 5 persons, at budgetary institutions and significant non-profit organisations in respect of employment, amounted to HUF 440,600 and excluding fostered workers were HUF 451,800.

Average net earnings excluding tax benefits were HUF 293,000 and HUF 301,800 including them.

Both average gross earnings and average net earnings excluding tax benefits grew equally, by 10.1%. Net earnings including tax benefits rose by 9.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Average gross regular earnings (gross earnings without premiums and one-month bonuses) were estimated at HUF 400,100, which was 9.6% higher than a year before.

January–April 2021:

Full-time employees’ average gross earnings (as defined by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office) at corporations employing at least 5 persons, budgetary institutions and significant non-profit organizations in respect of employment, amounted to HUF 425,400 and excluding fostered workers to HUF 436,100. Average net earnings were HUF 282,900 excluding tax benefits, and HUF 291,200 including them.

Both average gross earnings and average net earnings without tax benefits rose by 9.6%, average net earnings including tax benefits increased by 9.2% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Average gross earnings were the highest in the financial and insurance activities section (HUF 764,800), the lowest (HUF 252,400) in the accommodation and food service activities.

Gross average earnings reached HUF 439,900 in the business sector, HUF 397,200 in the budgetary sector and HUF 371,700 at non-profit organizations representing growths of 8.7%, 12.6% as well as 8.7%, compared to the same period of the previous year. Due to planned wage raises in certain government branches – including the pay increase of doctors, judges and prosecutors, and employees of nurseries – the growth of average wages in the budgetary sector exceeded that of the national economy.

Full-time employees’ average gross earnings amounted to HUF 464,200 for men and to HUF 387,800 for women, representing increases of 9.4% for men and 10.0% for women within one year.

Average gross regular earnings (gross earnings without premiums and one-month bonuses) are estimated at HUF 393,900, this was 9.4% higher than a year before.

Along with the 3.6% rise in consumer prices compared to the same period of the previous year, real earnings increased by 5.8%.
