Average gross earnings amounted to HUF 433,700

In July 2021, full-time employees’ average gross earnings were HUF 433,700, average net earnings without tax benefits reached HUF 288,400; both were 7.9% higher than a year earlier. Average gross earnings grew by 6.2% in the business sector, in the budgetary sector the increase was significantly higher, 11.8%, due to planned wage raises in certain government branches. In January–July 2021, average gross earnings reached HUF 429,000, average net earnings were HUF 285,300, both rising by 8.4% compared to the same period of the previous year.

In July 2021:

Full-time employees’ average gross earnings (as defined by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office) – at enterprises employing at least 5 persons, at budgetary institutions and at non-profit organisations that are significant in terms of employment – amounted to HUF 433,700 and excluding fostered workers were HUF 444,300.

Average net earnings excluding tax benefits reached HUF 288,400 and HUF 297,100 including them.

Both average gross earnings and average net earnings excluding tax benefits increased by 7.9%. Average net earnings including tax benefits were 7.7% higher than in the same period of the previous year.

Regular average gross earnings (without premiums and one-month bonuses) are estimated at HUF 404,600, 7.3% higher than a year before.

Gross median earnings reached HUF 350,000, surpassing by 7,5% the previous year’s value.

In January–July 2021:

Full-time employees’ average gross earnings (as defined by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office) at enterprises employing at least 5 persons, at budgetary institutions and at non-profit organisations that are significant in terms of employment amounted to HUF 429,000 and excluding fostered workers to HUF 439,800. Average net earnings reached HUF 285,300 excluding tax benefits and HUF 293,800 including them.

Both average gross earnings and average net earnings without tax benefits went up by 8.4% and average net earnings including tax benefits by 8.0% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

Average gross earnings reached HUF 442,000 in the business sector, HUF 403,900 in the budgetary sector, HUF 379,900 in the non-profit sector, representing growths of 7.8%, 9.4% and 8.5%, compared to the same period of the previous year. Due to planned wage raises in certain government branches – including the pay raise of doctors, judges and prosecutors, and employees of nurseries – the growth of average wages in the budgetary sector exceeded that of the national economy.

The highest average gross earnings were recorded for the financial and insurance activities section (HUF 756,000) and the lowest ones for accommodation and food service activities (HUF 258,000).

Average gross earnings amounted to HUF 467,700 for full-time male employees and to HUF 392,200 for full-time female employees, representing increases of 8.8% for males and 8.0% for females over a year.

Regular average gross earnings (without premiums and one-month bonuses) are estimated at HUF 398,600, these were 8.8.% higher than a year before.

Real earnings rose by 4.0%, along with a 4.2% increase in consumer prices, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

Gross median earnings reached HUF 343,000, surpassing by 9,3% the previous year’s value.
