Agricultural producer prices up by 4.1%

Agricultural producer prices were up by 4.1% in April 2017 compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, which was made up of a 1.2% decrease in the prices of crop products and a 14.5% rise in the prices of live animals and animal products.

In April 2017 compared to April 2016:

Cereals prices were up by 2.2%.

The prices of fruits increased by 8.4% and those of vegetables by 1.8%. In the former product group, the selling of strawberries started, and their prices were 36% higher than one year ago.

The price of potatoes was 9.1% lower.

The producer price level of live animals rose by 12% and that of animal products by 20%.

The price of pigs for slaughter was up by 35%.

The price of poultry for slaughter increased by 1.5%, within which the price of chickens, hens and cocks for slaughter decreased by 1.4%.

Milk prices rose by 26% and reached again the price level at the end of 2014.

In January–April 2017 compared to the same period of the previous year:

Agricultural producer prices increased by 0.7%. Within this, the prices of crop products were cut by 4.3% and those of live animals and animal products rose by 10%.

Vegetables prices were down by 4.5% and fruits prices by 2.3%, the price index of the latter product group was determined by the price of apple, which fell by 4%.

The price of pigs for slaughter increased by 25% and was HUF 422/kilogramme. In 2016, the lowest procurement price was HUF 308/kilogramme in April, which was followed by a quick increase until September 2016 and reached HUF 415/kilogramme.

Milk prices rose by 20%.
