Agricultural producer prices up by 4.5%

Agricultural producer prices were 4.5% higher in May 2017 than in the corresponding period of the previous year, which was made up of a 0.9% decrease in the price of crop products and a 15% rise in the price of live animals and animal products.

In May 2017 compared to May 2016:

Cereals prices were up by 1.8% and the price of industrial crops lessened by 3.0%.

The price of fruits increased by 12%, that of strawberries by 18% and the price of apples by 6.2%.

The price of vegetables was cut by 11%, within which that of tomatoes rose by 5.7% and the price of green pepper was lowered by 6.9%.

Potatoes prices were up by 12%.

The producer price level of live animals rose by 13% and that of animal products by 20%.

The price of pigs for slaughter increased by 31% to 444 forints per kilogramme, which was the highest procurement price in the past few years. It was 22 forints more per kilogramme than a month earlier.

The price of chickens for slaughter diminished by 3.2%. In the last four months the procurement price of chickens for slaughter stagnated around 250 forints per kilogramme.

Milk prices were up by 30%.

In January–May 2017 compared to the same period of the previous year:

Agricultural producer prices increased by 1.2%. Within this, the price of crop products was cut by 4.1% and that of live animals and animal products rose by 11%.

Vegetables prices were down by 6.9% and fruits prices were up by 1.7%.

The price of potatoes decreased by 1.6%.

The price of pigs for slaughter rose by 26% and milk prices by 22%.
