Agricultural producer prices up by 5.5%

Agricultural producer prices were 5.5% higher in September 2017 than in the corresponding period of the previous year, which was made up of increases of 4.0% in the price of crop products and 7.9% in the price of live animals and animal products. Agricultural input prices were 0.7% lower in January–September 2017 than a year earlier.

In September 2017 compared to September 2016:

Cereals prices went up by 6.8%, within which the price of wheat by 13% and that of maize by 4.0%.

The price of fruits rose by 13%, within which that of apples increased by 68% and the price of grapes was cut by 5.7%.

Vegetables prices became 0.8% and the price of onions 12% higher, while that of tomatoes 1.3% lower.

The producer price level of live animals rose by 3.4% and that of animal products by 19%.

Milk prices increased by 30% and the price of eggs by 1.3%.

In January–September 2017 compared to the same period of the previous year:

Agricultural producer prices were up by 3.4%. Within this, the price of crop products was reduced by 0.9% and that of live animals and animal products rose by 11%.

Vegetables prices lessened by 0.9%. The price of tomatoes went up by 3.6% in total. An increase was measured for fresh tomatoes, the price of industrial tomatoes fell by 2.2%.

Potatoes prices were cut by 9.4%.

The price of pigs for slaughter rose by 17% and milk prices by 26%.

The input prices of agricultural production were lowered by 0.7%, which resulted from a 1.2% decrease in the price level of intermediate consumption and a 2.5% rise in the price level of agricultural investments.

The largest declines were recorded in fertilisers and animal feedingstuffs prices, 9.5% in the former and 5.1% in the latter. Fertilisers prices started to diminish again after an increase in the first half of 2017 and reached the price level for the year 2010.

Within the price decrease of animal feedingstuffs, the price of straight feedingstuffs was 6.9% and that of compound feedingstuffs 4.0% lower.

The price of plant protection products practically stagnated, it became 0.1% lower than in the same period of the previous year.

Energy and lubricants prices were up by 6.4%, which were mainly influenced by a 9.3% rise in motor fuel prices.

The maintenance costs of buildings and machinery increased by 5.2% and 2.7%, respectively, and the price of veterinary medicinal products went up by 1.8%.

Within the price of agricultural investments, that of investments in buildings rose by 5.4%, while the price of investments in machinery and equipment was reduced by 0.2%.

The value of the terms of trade (the agricultural producer price index divided by the agricultural input price index) was 104.1%.
