Agricultural producer prices up by 4.9%

Agricultural producer prices were up by 4.9% in February 2018 compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, which was made up of increases of 6.2% in the price of crop products and 2.6% in the price of live animals and animal products.

In February 2018 compared to February 2017:

Cereals prices were up by 18%.

The price of vegetables was 16% and that of potatoes 18% lower. A significant increase of 35% was recorded in the procurement price of tomatoes, while their market price went down by 32%. In the procurement price the more expensive and smaller varieties are in majority, the price rise was due to this.

The producer price level of live animals lessened by 0.8%, while that of animal products was 10% higher.

The price of pigs for slaughter fell by 7.5%, their procurement price was HUF 357 per kilogramme. The declining trend observed in the previous months turned this month.

The price of chickens for slaughter increased by 0.6%.

Milk prices were 7.7% and eggs prices 22% higher.

In January–February 2018 compared to the same period of the previous year:

Agricultural producer prices rose by 2.6%, within which the price of crop products by 3.0% and that of live animals and animal products by 2.0%.
