Wheat prices 15% higher than in same period of previous year

Agricultural producer prices increased by 6.0% in August 2018 compared to the corresponding period of 2017, which resulted from a rise of 11% in the price of crop products and a decrease of 2.1% in the price of live animals and animal products.

In August 2018 compared to August 2017:

Cereals prices were up by 14%, within which the price of wheat by 15% and that of maize by 13%.

The price of fruits lessened by 0.8%, of which apples and plums prices fell by 20% and 37%, respectively, while the price of peaches increased by 51%.

Vegetables prices became 22% and the price of tomatoes 23% higher, while 36% more of the latter produce was procured.

The price of live animals – due to the 9.7% fall in the price of pigs for slaughter – diminished by 3.6%.

In January–August 2018 compared to the same period of the previous year:

Agricultural producer prices increased by 1.7%, within which the price of crop products rose by 3.9% and that of live animals and animal products lessened by 1.9%.

The price of vegetables was 7.9% higher and that of fruits 8.7% lower.

The price of pigs for slaughter fell by 12%.

Milk became 2.0% and eggs 10% more expensive.
