Unemployment rate was 4.1%

In November 2020, the number of unemployed decreased by 9 thousand to 190 thousand compared to the previous month, and the 4.1% unemployment rate was 0.2 percentage points lower than a month earlier. In the period of September–November 2020, the average number of unemployed people was 204 thousand, 40 thousand more than a year earlier. The unemployment rate was 4.4%, 0.9 percentage points higher than the previous year. Female unemployment rate was higher than male, but there was higher growth among men compared to a year before.

The number of unemployed2 was 190 thousand, and the unemployment rate was 4.1%.

Compared to October 2020, the number of unemployed decreased by 9 thousand and the unemployment rate decreased by 0.2 percentage points.

Compared to November of the previous year, the number of unemployed increased by 34 thousand, and the unemployment rate increased by 0.7 percentage points.

In September–November 20203, compared to a year before:

The number of unemployed people aged 15–74 grew by 40 thousand to 204 thousand and their unemployment rate increased by 0.9 percentage points to 4.4%. Among men, the number of unemployed increased by 26 thousand to 110 thousand and the unemployment rate grew by 1.0 percentage point to 4.2%. In the case of women, the number of unemployed rose by 14 thousand to 94 thousand and the unemployment rate increased by 0.7 percentage points to 4.5%

Among people aged 15–24, the number of unemployed decreased to 38 thousand and the unemployment rate by 0.9 percentage points to 12.3%. Nearly one fifth of the unemployed still came from this age group. Unemployment rates for people aged 25–54, being in the so-called best working age grew by 0.9 percentage points to 3.9%, and for people aged 55–74 increased by 1.6 percentage points to 3.2%.

The average duration of unemployment was 11.5 months; 32.8% of unemployed people had been looking for a job for one year or more, i.e. were long-term unemployed.

According to the administrative data of the National Employment Service (https://nfsz.munka.hu/), the total number of registered jobseekers increased by 24.0% to 297 thousand.
