The gross domestic product of Hungary decreased by 2.7% in the fourth quarter of 2012 compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. The performance of information and communication, accommodation and food service activities increased. The decrease was significantly influenced by the fall of agricultural and industrial performance. In 2012, performance of the Hungarian economy decreased by 1.7%.

The gross domestic product of Hungary decreased by 1.5% in the third quarter of 2012 compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. The performance of information and communication, accommodation and food service activities, and construction increased. The decrease was significantly influenced by the fall of agricultural performance. In the first three quarters of 2012 the production of the Hungarian economy decreased by 1.3% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Stagnation was recorded in most of the industries of the national economy. The performance of information and communication industry increased by 4.5%, while that of agriculture and construction declined significantly.

According to seasonally adjusted data, the economic performance grew by 0.7% as compared to the previous quarter. The GDP growth was mainly due to the industrial exports.
