On the basis of the preliminary estimation of HCSO the gross domestic product of Hungary decreased by 0.9% in the first quarter of 2013 compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. The performance of agriculture and construction increased. The decrease was mainly due to the decline of industry. According to seasonally and calendar effects adjusted data, the gross domestic product increased by 0.7% as compared to the previous quarter.

On the basis of the preliminary estimation of HCSO the gross domestic product of Hungary decreased by 2.7% in the fourth quarter of 2012 compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. The performance of information and communication, accommodation and food service activities increased. The decrease was mainly due to the decline of agriculture and industry. The economic performance decreased by 1.7% in 2012.

The economic performance increased by 2.0% and by 1.9% when adjusted for calendar effects in the first half of the year.
