  • Average yield of maize and production of sunflower and rape break record, Arable crops, 2016

In 2016, the average yield of maize broke the record and exceeded 8.6 tonnes per hectare, which was largely due to the periodic consecutive alternation of an ideal hot weather and abundant rainfall. With the exception of potatoes the production of the observed crops harvested in autumn was higher than in the previous year. Record production of sunflower and rape was harvested, nearly 1.9 million tonnes of the former and close to 900 thousand tonnes of the latter. 2.5 million tonnes (17.8%) more
  • Production of cereals decrease by 16 %, Arable crops, 2015

In 2015, 2.6 million tonnes (15.7%) less cereals were produced on a 132 thousand hectares (4.7%) smaller area compared to the previous year. The decrease was primarily due to a 27% fall in the harvested production of maize. Due to the heat at the beginning of the summer and the lack of precipitation nearly 2.8 million tonnes less maize was harvested compared to a record production in the year 2014. The quantity of wheat remained at the previous year’s level despite a decrease in the sown area.
  • 36% more maize was produced, Preliminary production data of main crops, 2014

In 2014 the production of all major crops harvested in autumn was higher than in the previous year. 21% more cereals were produced than in the previous year, on nearly the same size of area. The production of wheat was 3.5% higher than in the previous year. The production of maize reached a record high, nearly 9.2 million tons were harvested, and its yields were 42% higher than in 2013.
  • Harvested production of cereals increases about one third in 2013, Preliminary production data of main crops, 2013

The production of wheat and maize was 25% and 41% more respectively than in 2012. The 6725 thousand tons of maize harvested was 7% less than the average of 2008–2012. The production of all main crops harvested in autumn (except potatoes and sugar beet) was higher in 2013 than in the previous year.
  • Harvested production of main crops decreases significantly in 2012, Preliminary production data of main crops, 2012

In 2012 25% less cereals were produced on a 2% larger area than in the previous year. The production of wheat decreased by 3% compared to 2011 and the production of all main crops harvested in autumn was lower than in the previous year. 4741 thousand tons of maize were harvested, which is one of the lowest production figures in the past few years. The primary reason for the decrease was unfavourable weather conditions.
  • Harvested production of maize and sunflower increases significantly in 2011 , Preliminary production data of main crops, 2011

Cereal production in 2011 exceeded by 1,493 thousand tons the production in the previous year. While the harvested area of crops sown in autumn was less than in 2010 (rainy autumn weather conditions in 2010 held up the work of sowing), the harvested area and production of crops sown in spring 2011 increased significantly compared to the previous year. The production of maize harvested in 2011 was one of the highest in the last few years.
  • Preliminary production data of main crops, 2010

In 2010, 12.3 million tons of cereals were produced on nearly 2.6 million hectares (which area is 11% less than in 2009). The production of wheat and maize decreased by 15% and 8%, respectively, in the same period. Potato and rape production were 22% and 3% lower than in 2009. At the same time, the production of sugar beet slightly increased: by 2% compared to 2009. The production of crops harvested in autumn was determined by a considerably rainier weather in 2010 than as usual.
