In August 2022, the average number of employed persons1 aged 15–74 years was 4 million 713 thousand2. In the June–August period of 2022, the average number of employed persons equalled 4 million 711 thousand, which was 52 thousand more than in the same period of the previous year.

The number of employed persons was 52 thousand more, at 4 million 711 thousand. The number of people working in the domestic primary labour market was up by 62 thousand and that of members of households in Hungary working abroad slightly by 4 thousand, while the number of public workers decreased by 14 thousand.
Among 15–64-year-olds, 4 million 604 thousand people were classified as employed, and the employment rate for the age group was 74.6%. The number of employed males reached 2 million 439 thousand following a growth of 16 thousand, and their employment rate increased by 0.8 percentage points to 79.1%. For females, employment rose by 29 thousand to 2 million 164 thousand and the employment rate by 1.4 percentage points to 70.2%.

In the young age group (of 15–24-year-olds), the number of employed persons was 278 thousand, and their employment rate rose by 0.5 percentage points to 28.2%. The employment rate was up by 1.3 percentage points to 88.6% in the ‘prime’ working-age population (aged 25–54 years) and by 1.3 percentage points to 65.1% in the older age group (of 55–64-year-olds).
