Average gross earnings amounted to HUF 411,000
In January 2021 full-time employees’ gross average earnings were HUF 411 000 while average net earnings without tax benefits reached HUF 273,300; both grew by 9.5% year-on-year. Average gross earnings grew by 8.5% in the business sector, while in the budgetary sector the increase was significantly higher, 13,3%, due to planned wage raises in certain government branches.
In January 2021:
Full-time employees’ average gross earnings (as defined by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office) – at corporations employing at least 5 persons, at budgetary institutions and significant non-profit organisations in respect of employment, – amounted to HUF 411 000 and excluding fostered workers were HUF 421 700.
Average net earnings excluding tax benefits were HUF 273,300 and HUF 280,500 including them.
Both average gross earnings and average net earnings excluding tax benefits grew equally, by 9.5%. Average net earnings including tax benefits rose by 9.2% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Average gross regular earnings (gross earnings without premiums and one-month bonuses) were estimated at HUF 390,200, which is 9.8% higher than a year before.
Gross average earnings reached HUF 423 800 in the business sector, HUF 386 800 in the budgetray sector and HUF 362 900 at non-profit organizations representing growth of 8.5%, 13.3% and 8.8% respectively, compared to the same period of the previuos year. Due to planned wage raises in certain government branches – including the pay raise of doctors, judges and prosecutors, and empoloyees of nurseries – the growth of average wages in the budgetary sector exceeded that of the national economy.
Average gross earnings were the highest in the financial and insurance activities sections (HUF 714 900) and the lowest (HUF 247 500) in accommodation and food service activities.
Full-time employees’ average gross earnings amounted to HUF 447 200 for men and to HUF 375 500 for women, representing increases of 9.2% for men and 10.2% for women within one year.
Along with the 2.7% rise in consumer prices compared to the same period of the previous year, real earnings increased by 6.6%.
