Surplus on external trade in goods amounts to EUR 97 million in May, exports decrease by 4.4% and imports by 1.9% compared to April

In EUR terms, the value of both exports and imports was 38% larger in May 2021 than the extremely low base in the same period of the previous year, which was due to the epidemic and the related restrictive measures. The balance of external trade in goods improved by EUR 9.8 million. Compared to the previous month, exports decreased by 4.4% and imports by 1.9%. Compared to May 2019, the EUR value of exports was 1.2% lower, while that of imports 4.3% higher.

In May 2021:

The value of exports amounted to EUR 9,397 million (HUF 3,345 billion) and that of imports to EUR 9,300 million (HUF 3,315 billion).

The surplus on external trade in goods was EUR 97 million (HUF 30.1 billion).

The share of EU-27 Member States was 77% in exports and 71% in imports.

In May 2021, compared to a year earlier:

The value of exports and imports increased by 38% in EUR terms.
