Value of output of agriculture grows by 13%

The total value of output of agriculture increased by 13% in 2021. The volume of production went down by 2.3% and prices rose by 16%. The volume of crop production became 6.5% smaller, that of livestock production 4.5% larger and the volume of services remained unchanged. The production of fruits, animals and animal products grew and that of the remaining groups of agricultural products decreased or was unchanged.

In 2021 compared to the previous year:

The volume of output of crop production lessened by 6.5% according to the first, preliminary data. The quantity of cereals became 10% lower in total, the 23% fall in maize production was offset by growths (of 14% and 4.1%) in the production of merely barley and wheat, respectively. The production of rape became 20% lower owing to a decrease in its productive area, the production of sunflower was unchanged and that of protein crops and tobacco went up, so the quantity of industrial crops shrank by 6.3% in total. The volume of forage plants decreased by 4.6%, that of horticultural products by 3.7% and the volume of potatoes by 18%. The quantity of other crop products remained unchanged. The quantity of fruits grew by 10%, first of all due to good apple harvest results. Spring frosts made it difficult to produce apricot, peach and nectarine. The quantity of grapes was unchanged compared to the previous year.

The total volume of output of livestock production increased by 4.5%. The production of live animals became 4.9% larger. The production of animal products rose by 3.5%, that of raw cow’s milk expanded as well and the production of the remaining products remained unchanged.

The value of the output of the agricultural sector (including services and secondary activities) grew by 13% at current basic prices, and its volume of production – along with a 16% rise in prices – went down by 2.3%.

The volume of intermediate consumption was unchanged and its prices rose by a total 15%. Out of inputs, an increase of 1% occurred in the volume of both veterinary expenses and animal feedingstuffs, chemical fertiliser and plant protection product use was reduced, and the rest of the inputs remained unchanged according to the first estimates.

Gross value added was up by 10%, its volume narrowing by 5.6%. Labour input in agriculture was cut by 3.5%. Factor income grew by 7.6% and entrepreneurial income by 12%.

Real factor income per unit of labour force (indicator ‘A’) was 6.5% higher than in the previous year.
