Unemployment rate was 3.5%

In the period of September–November 2019, the average number of unemployed people was 163 thousand, and the unemployment rate was 3.5%. Men were characterised by lower unemployment.

In September–November 2019, compared to a year before:

The unemployment among 15–74 year-old men decreased to 84 thousand and the unemployment rate to 3.3%. Regarding women, the number of the unemployed totalled 80 thousand, and the unemployment rate was 3.8%.

Among people aged 15–24, the number of the unemployed increased by 8.3 thousand to 43 thousand and their unemployment rate by 2.9 percentage points to 13.2%. More than a quarter of the unemployed belonged to this age group. The unemployment rate of the 25–54 age group, i.e. people belonging to the ‘best working age’, decreased to 3.0%, and that of people aged 55–74 decreased by 0.9 percentage point to 1.6%.

The average duration of unemployment was 10.6 months; 30.5% of unemployed people had been searching for a job for one year or more, i.e. were long-term unemployed.

At the end of November 2019, compared to a year earlier:

According to the administrative data of the National Employment Service (https://nfsz.munka.hu/), the total number of registered jobseekers decreased by 1.9% to 239 thousand.
