8,051 children are born and 9,600 people lose their lives in June

In June 2022, 8,051 children were born and 9,600 people died according to preliminary data. In the last twelve months, i.e. between July 2021 and June 2022, the number of births diminished by 1.6%, that of deaths by 8.6%, and the marriages by 2.9%.

In June 2022:

A total of 8,051 children were born, 4.3% or 329 more than a year earlier.

9,600 people lost their lives, 9.2% less or 971 fewer than in June 2021.

The natural decrease was 1,549, as opposed to 2,849 in June 2021.

7,157 couples got married, which was 7.6% less or 587 fewer than in June 2021.

Between July 2021 and June 2022:

In the last twelve months, 90,737 children were born, 1.6% less or 1,456 fewer than in the previous twelve months. In January-June this year, there were 5.2% fewer births, including an 11% decrease in births in January-April and a 5.4% increase in May-June compared to the same period in 2021.

The total fertility rate was estimated at 1.56 per female in the last 12 months and 1.57 in the previous twelve months.

There were 143,756 deaths, 8.6% less or 13,460 fewer than in the previous twelve months. The number of deaths fell by 15% in January-June this year, with all months except February down on the previous year, the largest fall being in March-April, at 29%.

The number of births decreased to a lower extent than that of deaths, as a result of which the natural decrease was 53,019, which was a decrease of 18% compared to the value of 65,023 in the previous twelve months.

69,959 couples got married, 2.9% less or 2,124 fewer than in the previous twelve months. There were 6.5% less marriages in January–June this year, within which 10% less marriages were registered in January–April, 7.6% less in June and 3.6% more in May than in the same months of 2021.

There were 9.4 live births and 14.8 deaths per thousand population. The rate of live births was 0.1 per mille point and that of deaths 1.3 per mille point lower than in July 2020–June 2021, as a result of which the rate of natural decrease was down by 1.2 per mille point to 5.5 per mille. The number of infant deaths was 3.2 per thousand live births, 0.1 per mille point larger than in the previous twelve months. The marriage rate was 7.2 per mille, 0.2 per mille point lower than in the period one year earlier.

The number of births rose slightly in the Northern Great Plain and stagnated in the Southern Great Plain, while diminished in the rest of the regions compared to the period a year earlier. The highest moderation was in Southern Transdanubia and the lowest one in Northern Hungary.

The number of deaths decreased in all regions compared to the previous twelve months. The highest decrease occurred in Pest Region and Northern Hungary, while the smallest one in Southern Great Plain.

The natural decrease lessened in all regions. The largest decrease was in Pest Region and the lowest one in Southern Transdanubia.

The number of marriages slightly increased in Budapest and the Northern Great Plain, while diminished in all other regions. The highest decrease occurred in the Southern Great Plain and the lowest one in Pest Region.
