8,073 children born and 10,224 people lose their lives in August
In August 2022, 8,073 children were born and 10,224 people died according to preliminary data. In the last twelve months, i.e. between September 2021 and August 2022, the number of births diminished by 1.5%, and that of deaths and marriages by 8.1% compared to the period one year earlier.
In August 2022:
A total of 8,073 children were born, 3.1% less or 258 fewer than a year earlier.
10,224 people lost their lives, 3.7% or 362 more than in August 2021.
The natural decrease was 2,151, as opposed to 1,531 in August 2021.
7,952 couples got married, which was 14% less or 1,296 fewer than in August 2021.
Between September 2021 and August 2022:
90,636 children were born, 1.5% less or 1,364 fewer than in the previous twelve months. 4.0% less children were born in January–August this year, within which the number of births went down by 11% in January–April and by 3.1% in August and increased by 4.1% in May–July compared to the same period of 2021.
The total fertility rate was estimated at 1.56 per female, compared to 1.57 which was calculated for the previous twelve months.
There were 144,889 deaths, 8.1% less or 12,826 fewer than in the previous twelve months. The number of deaths fell by 11% in January–August this year, within which the number of deaths went down by 4.4% in January and by 21% in March–June and increased by 4.9% in February and by 3.6% in July–August.
The number of births diminished to a lower extent than that of deaths, as a result of which the natural decrease was 54,253, which was a fall of 17% compared to the value of 65,715 in the previous twelve months.
67,045 couples got married, 8.1% less or 5,929 fewer than in the previous twelve months. There were 9.8% less marriages in January–August this year, within which 10% less marriages were registered in January–April, 13% less in June–August and 3.6% more in May than in the same months of 2021.
There were 9.4 live births and 15.0 deaths per thousand population. The rate of live births was 0.1 per mille points and that of deaths 1.3 per mille points lower than in September 2020–August 2021, as a result of which the rate of natural decrease was down by 1.2 per mille points to 5.6 per mille. The number of infant deaths was 3.3 per thousand live births, which was approximately the same as the value for the previous twelve months. The marriage rate was 6.9 per mille, 0.6 per mille points lower than in the period a year earlier.
