7,361 children born and 10,808 people lose their lives in October

In October 2022, 7,361 children were born and 10,808 people died according to preliminary data. In the last twelve months, i.e. between November 2021 and October 2022, the number of births diminished by 3.9%, that of deaths by 8.3% and the number of marriages by 6.4% compared to the period one year earlier.

In October 2022:

A total of 7,361 children were born, 12% less or 978 fewer than a year earlier.

10,808 people lost their lives, 8.7% less or 1,032 fewer than in October 2021.

The natural decrease was 3,447, as opposed to 3,501 in October 2021.

4,712 couples got married, which was 11% less or 579 fewer than in October 2021.

Between November 2021 and October 2022:

88,834 children were born, 3.9% less or 3,585 fewer than in the previous twelve months. 5.4% less children were born in January–October this year, within which the number of births went down by 11% in January–April and by 8.2% in August–October and increased by 4.1% in May–July compared to the same period of 2021.

The total fertility rate was estimated at 1.53 per female, compared to 1.58 calculated for the previous twelve months.

There were 144,169 deaths, 8.3% less or 12,970 fewer than in the previous twelve months. The number of deaths fell by 9.3% in January–October this year, within which going down by 4.4% in January, by 21% in March–June, 5.5% in September–October and increasing by 4.9% in February and by 6.0% in July–August compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

The number of births diminished to a lower extent than that of deaths, as a result of which the natural decrease was 55,335, which was 15% lower than the value of 64,720 for the previous twelve months.

66,260 couples got married, 6.4% less or 4,500 fewer than in the previous twelve months. The number of marriages decreased by 9.0% in January–October this year, within which 10% less marriages were registered in January–April, 11% less in June–October and 3.6% more in May than in the same months of 2021.

There were 9.2 live births and 14.9 deaths per thousand population. The rate of live births was 0.3 per mille point and that of deaths 1.3 per mille points lower than in November 2020–October 2021, as a result of which the rate of natural decrease was down by 0.9 per mille point to 5.7 per mille. The number of infant deaths was 3.4 per thousand live births, 0.1 per mille point larger than in the previous twelve months. The marriage rate was 6.8 per mille, 0.4 per mille point lower than in the period a year earlier.
