Consumer prices 1.4% higher on average than in same month of previous year
Consumer prices were 1.4% higher on average in February 2026 than a year earlier. Over one month, consumer prices rose by 0.1% on average.
In 12 months, compared to February 2025:
Food prices increased by 0.2% (and decreased by 3.2% excluding food and beverage serving services), within which the price of other confectionery products by 12.6%, that of buffet products by 10.9%, fresh domestic and tropical fruit prices by 10.3% and the price of ice cream and of meals at restaurants and canteens both by 8.1%. Within the product group, the price of margarine lessened by 32.3%, that of canned meat by 26.9%, butter prices by 19.8%, the price of potatoes by 19.7%, that of pork fat by 19.5%, milk product (excluding cheese) prices by 18.8%, the price of milk by 17.0% and that of flour by 14.9%. Services became 4.2%, within which theatre tickets 18.8%, recreation abroad 18.0%, recreation in the country 10.2%, personal care services 8.5%, the repairs and maintenance of vehicles 8.2% and other public entertainment tickets 8.1% more expensive. Alcoholic beverage and tobacco prices rose by 5.8%, within which tobacco prices by 7.5%. 4.2% more was to be paid for electricity, gas and other fuels, within which 10.8% more for natural and manufactured gas and 2.3% more for electricity. Consumer durable prices were up by 2.8%, within which jewellery cost 26.6%, motorcycles 6.6% and living and dining room furniture and second-hand passenger cars both 5.0% more for consumers. Pharmaceutical products became 5.4% more expensive, while motor fuel prices diminished by 11.1%.
In one month, compared to January 2026:
Consumer prices were up by 0.1% on average. Food prices increased by 0.1% on average (and stagnated excluding food and beverage serving services), within which fresh vegetables cost 4.0%, edible oil 2.2%, other meat preparations and ice cream both 1.6% and preserved and frozen fruits 1.2% more, while pork cost 3.3%, poultry meat 2.5%, chocolate and cocoa 1.8%, eggs 1.5%, butter and butter cream 1.3% and milk 1.2% less for consumers. Service prices increased by 0.4% on average, within which long-distance travel cost 1.7% more and the transport of goods 4.2% less for consumers. Consumers paid 1.7% less on average for electricity, gas and other fuels, within which 15.7% less for purchased heat. Alcoholic beverage and tobacco prices rose by 0.7%, within which alcoholic beverage prices by 1.5%. Motor fuel prices increased by 0.6%. Due to the end-of-season sales, clothing and footwear cost 1.8% less for consumers.
