Consumer prices 2.1% higher on average than in same month of previous year
Consumer prices were 2.1% higher on average in April 2026 than a year earlier. Over one month, consumer prices rose by 0.4% on average.
In 12 months, compared to April 2025:
Food prices increased by 1.5% (and decreased by 0.9% excluding food and beverage serving services), within which the price of other bakery products by 10.5%, that of buffet products by 8.2%, fresh domestic and tropical fruit prices by 7.0%, the price of candies and honey by 6.9%, that of meals at restaurants by 6.1% and spice prices by 3.5%. Within the product group, the price of canned meat lessened by 28.2%, that of butter by 11.6%, potato prices by 11.4%, the price of pork by 8.5%, that of pasta products by 7.4%, cheese prices by 6.2% and the price of milk by 6.0%. Services became 4.0%, within which theatre tickets 18.3%, recreation abroad 15.5%, the transport of goods 13.7%, recreation in the country 5.9%, other public entertainment tickets 8.7%, personal care services 7.8% and the repairs and maintenance of vehicles 7.5% more expensive. Alcoholic beverage and tobacco prices rose by 4.1%, within which tobacco prices by 4.9%. 0.4% less was to be paid for electricity, gas and other fuels, within which 3.1% less for natural and manufactured gas and 2.1% more for electricity. Consumer durable prices were up by 2.7%, within which jewellery cost 28.4%, motorcycles 6.9%, second-hand passenger cars 5.0% and living and dining room furniture 3.0% more for consumers. Pharmaceutical products became 1.9% and motor fuels 0.1% more expensive.
In one month, compared to March 2026:
Consumer prices were up by 0.4% on average. Food prices increased by 0.1% on average (and stagnated excluding food and beverage serving services), within which potatoes cost 6.6%, fresh domestic and tropical fruits 3.8%, fresh vegetables 1.3%, pork 0.8% and edible oil 0.4% more, while rolls 2.7%, pasta products 2.5%, dried vegetables 1.9%, butter 1.4%, milk 1.2% and milk products (excluding cheese) 0.5% less for consumers. Service prices increased by 0.7% on average, within which other travels cost 9.0% and recreation in the country 2.0% more and recreation abroad 0.5% less for consumers. Electricity, gas and other fuel prices were cut by 0.9%, within which the price of natural and manufactured gas diminished by 2.7%, while that of purchased heat rose by 0.2% (Press release). Alcoholic beverage and tobacco prices stagnated, within which the price of tobacco went up by 0.2% and that of alcoholic beverages was reduced by 0.3%. Motor fuel prices increased by 1.7%, and clothing and footwear cost 1.5% more for consumers.
