In October 2025, the average number of employed persons aged 15–74 was 4 million 674 thousand. The number of unemployed persons was 217 thousand and the unemployment rate was 4.4%.1
Employment, August–October 2025
In the period August–October 2025, the average number of employed persons aged 15–74 was 4 million 672 thousand, 31 thousand fewer than a year earlier. The number of employed people was down by 24 thousand to 2 million 467 thousand among males, while among females it remained unchanged2 at 2 million 205 thousand.
4 million 493 thousand people worked in the domestic primary labour market, 45 thousand fewer than in the same period of the previous year. The number of public workers was 74 thousand, while that of people working abroad was 105 thousand.
The employment rate for 15-64 year-olds was practically unchanged compared to the same period of the previous year at 75.3%, with a simultaneous decrease in the population and employment. This rate was 78.7% for men and 71.8% for women.2
Unemployment, August–October 2025
In the August–October period of 2025 the average number of unemployed people aged 15–74 was 223 thousand, with an unemployment rate of 4.6%.2
The number of unemployed was 119 thousand for males and 104 thousand for females. The rate was 4.6% for men and 4.5% for women, practically the same as in August–October of the previous year.2
The average duration of job search was 12.0 months, 44.9% of all unemployed had been looking for a job for less than 3 months, while 32.6% had not found a job for at least a year.
According to the administrative data of the National Employment Service (https://nfsz.munka.hu/), the number of registered job seekers at the end of October 2025 decreased by 2.4% to 221 thousand compared to a year earlier.
