In August 2023, the average number of employed persons1 aged 15-74 rose to 4 million 709 thousand2, with an increase of 22 thousand for men and a decrease of 10 thousand for women.
June–August 2023 compared to a year before:
In the June–August 2023 period, the number of employed persons was 4 million 721 thousand. While the number of people working in the domestic primary labour market was essentially unchanged and that of those working abroad grew by 22 thousand, the number of public workers decreased by 8 thousand.
Among the 15–64-year-olds, 4 million 604 thousand people were classified as employed, the employment rate for the age group was 74.8%. Compared with June-August of the previous year, the number and share of persons employed remained essentially unchanged for each sex. The number of employed men was 2 million 445 thousand, with an employment rate of 79.3%, while the number of employed women was 2 million 159 thousand, with an employment rate of 70.2%.

In the youth age group (15-24 years), 274 thousand people were employed and their employment rate was 27.7%. The employment rate among the so called ‘prime’ working-age population (aged 25–54 years) decreased by 0.9 percentage points to 87.6%, while in the older age group (of 55–64-year-olds) it rose by 4.8 percentage points to 69.9%.
