Industrial production dropped by 4.9% year-on-year and by 1.2% compared to May

The volume of industrial production lagged behind the one year earlier level by 4.9% in June 2024. The working day adjusted index is equal to the non-adjusted one. Production declined in the majority of the manufacturing subsections. According to seasonally and working-day adjusted data, industrial output was 1.2% lower than in May 2025.

In June 2025:

The volume of industrial production decreased by 4.9% compared to the same period of the previous year. (Compared to the June data published in the first estimate, the data in the second estimate did not change.)

Industrial output in June – according to seasonally and working-day adjusted indices – was 1.2% below the level of the previous month.

The volume of industrial export was 5.4% lower than a year earlier. The manufacture of transport equipment export, representing a 31% weight within export sales in manufacturing fell by 10.5%, at the same time the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products export, accounting for a 14% weight, rose by 2.0%.

Domestic sales of industry decreased by 3.0%, those of manufacturing declined by 1.1% compared to the same month of the previous year.

Within industry, production dropped by 5.3% in the decisive weight (96%) representing manufacturing, lessened by 0.1% in the energy industry (electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply), at the same time grew by 5.2% in the small weight representing mining and quarrying.

Output volume in the largest weight representing manufacture of transport equipment, having a 26% share in manufacturing, fell by 11.5% compared to the same month of the previous year. Motor vehicles manufacturing dropped by 16.1%, the manufacture of parts and accessories for motor vehicles decreased by 10.8%.

The manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products, accounting for 10.2% within manufacturing output exceeded the level of June 2024 by 0.4%. Considering the two largest groups, the manufacture of electronic components and boards declined by 6.2%, at the same time the manufacture of computers and peripheral equipment grew 5.1%.

The manufacture of electrical equipment, representing a 9.6% weight in manufacturing rose by 0.1%, year-on-year. Out of the two largest weight representing groups production volume in the manufacture of batteries and accumulators increased by 7.3%, while the manufacture of electric motors, generators, transformers and electricity distribution and control apparatus dropped by 4.4%.

The manufacture of food products, beverages and tobacco products, having a 14% share in manufacturing, was 1.0% higher than in the same month of the previous year, at the same time both domestic and export sales declined. Processing and preserving meat and the production of meat products, representing the largest weight (22%), grew by 3.0% compared to June of the previous year. Production grew in other six groups, too, least of all in the manufacture of prepared animal feeds (by 1.4%), most of all (by 28%) in the small weight representing processing and preserving of fish, crustaceans and molluscs. Output decreased between 1.7% and 16.9% in the other four groups, at the highest rate in vegetable and animal oils and fats.

Out of the two medium weight representing subsections the manufacture of rubber and plastics products and other non-metallic mineral products declined by 3.6%, the manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment fell by 8.7% year-on-year.

The setback continued in the manufacture of coke, and refined petroleum products, accounting for a 3.6% weight within manufacturing: the output dropped by 3.5% in June, mainly due to a decrease in export sales, while domestic sales rose.

The manufacture of chemicals and chemical products lagged behind the most, by 16.7% year-on-year, primarily owing to a considerable drop in the manufacture of plastics in primary forms, that of fertilisers and nitrogen compounds, as well as that of other organic basic chemicals.

Industrial production grew only in the Northern Great Plain (by 5.5%) year-on-year. In the other regions volume decreases between 0.2% and 15.3% were recorded, the highest one in the Southern Great Plain.

The volume of total new orders in the observed divisions of manufacturing was 15.6% lower compared to June 2024. New domestic orders dropped by 8.0%, new export orders fell by 16.8%. The total stock of orders at the end of June was below the previous year’s level by 8.0%.

In January–June 2025, compared to the same period of the previous year:

Industrial production dropped by 3.9%. The volume of export sales, representing 64% of all sales declined by 1.6%, domestic sales, accounting for 36% of all sales, decreased by 3.4%.

Out of the thirteen manufacturing subsections production fell in eleven, to the greatest extent, by 14.7%, in the manufacture of electrical equipment. The output of the manufacture of transport equipment, the largest subsection, declined by 3.3%. Production volume grew in two subsections: by 5.1% in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products, and by 3.4% in the manufacture of wood and paper products, and printing.
