Industrial production lessened by 7.3% year-on-year and by 2.3% compared to the previous month
The volume of industrial production lagged behind the one year earlier level by 7.3%, based on working-day adjusted data it declined by 4.6% in August 2025, year-on-year. There was a setback in all but one of the manufacturing subsections. According to seasonally and working-day adjusted data, industrial output was 2.3% lower than in July 2025.
In August 2025:
The volume of industrial production decreased by 7.3% compared to the same period of the previous year. (Compared to the August data published in the first estimate, the data in the second estimate did not change.)
Industrial output– according to seasonally and working-day adjusted indices – was below the previous month’s level by 2.3%.
The volume of industrial export was 9.5% lower than a year earlier. The manufacture of transport equipment export, representing a 26% weight within export sales in manufacturing fell by 17.7%, at the same time the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products export, accounting for a 17% weight, went up by 10.5%.
Domestic sales of industry declined by 7.6%, those of manufacturing decreased by 4.5% compared to the same month of the previous year.
Within industry, production lessened by 7.4% in the decisive weight (95%) representing manufacturing, dropped by 9.2% in the small weight representing mining and quarrying, and fell by 8.9% in the energy industry (electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply) compared to August 2024.

Output volume of the largest weight representing manufacture of transport equipment, having a 20% share in manufacturing, decreased at the highest rate out of the subsections, by 20% compared to the same month of the previous year. Motor vehicles manufacturing dropped by 35%, the manufacture of parts and accessories for motor vehicles declined by 11.5%.
The manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products, accounting for 13% within manufacturing output exceeded the level of August 2024 by 17.4%. Considering the two largest groups, the manufacture of computers and peripheral equipment went up by 62%, the manufacture of electronic components and boards dropped by 12.1%.
The manufacture of electrical equipment, representing a 11% weight in manufacturing lagged behind the one year earlier level by 9.4%. Out of the two largest weight representing groups production volume in the manufacture of batteries and accumulators fell by 10.1%, the manufacture of electric motors, generators, transformers and electricity distribution and control apparatus dropped by 11.9%.
The manufacture of food products, beverages and tobacco products, having a 17% share in manufacturing, was 3.3% lower than in the same month of the previous year, both domestic and export sales declined. Processing and preserving meat and the production of meat products, representing the largest weight (22%), declined by 2.6% compared to August of the previous year. Production decreased between 0.9% and 22% in six other groups, too, least of all in the manufacture of dairy products, most of all in the very small weight representing processing and preserving of fish, crustaceans and molluscs. Output grew between 3.8% and 34% in the other four groups, at the highest rate in the small weight representing manufacture of tobacco products, least of all in the manufacture of other food products.
Out of the two medium weight representing subsections the manufacture of rubber and plastics products and other non-metallic mineral products dropped by 6.6%, the manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment decreased by 2.2% compared to the same month of the previous year.
Contrary to the increase in the previous month, the manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. having a 5.6% share in manufacturing declined by 3.7%, mainly due to a decrease in domestic sales, while export sales rose.
The manufacture of chemicals and chemical products accounting for a 4.3% weight within manufacturing lagged behind the one year earlier level by 16.5%, primarily owing to a considerable drop in the manufacture of basic chemicals, fertilisers and nitrogen compounds, plastics and synthetic rubber in primary forms representing a 73% share within the subsection.
