Industrial production lessened by 1.5% year-on-year and by 1.8% compared to the previous month
The volume of industrial production lagged behind the one year earlier level by 1.5% in February 2026. The working day adjusted index is equal to the non-adjusted one. A production decrease occurred in the majority of the manufacturing subsections. According to seasonally and working-day adjusted data industrial output was 1.8% lower than in January 2026.
In February 2026:
The volume of industrial production decreased by 1.5% compared to the same period of the previous year. (Compared to the February data published in the first estimate, the data in the second estimate did not change.)
Industrial output– according to seasonally and working-day adjusted indices – was below the previous month’s level by 1.8%.
The industrial export stayed at the level of February 2025. The manufacture of transport equipment export, representing a 32% weight within export sales in manufacturing declined by 3.2%, the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products export, accounting for a 16% weight, went up by 18.0%.
Domestic sales of industry declined by 5.7%, those of manufacturing decreased by 4.9% compared to the same month of the previous year.
Within industry, production lessened by 1.0% in the decisive weight (97%) representing manufacturing, dropped by 9.1% in the small weight representing mining and quarrying, and fell by 11.2% in the energy industry (electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply).

Output volume of the largest weight representing manufacture of transport equipment, having a 26% share in manufacturing, decreased by 4.0% compared to the same month of the previous year. Motor vehicles manufacturing dropped by 6.5%, the manufacture of parts and accessories for motor vehicles declined by 4.1%.
The manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products, accounting for 14% within manufacturing output, increased – at the highest rate out of the subsections – by 24%. Considering the two largest groups, the manufacture of computers and peripheral equipment went up by 96%, at the same time the manufacture of electronic components and boards fell by 20%.
The manufacture of electrical equipment, representing a 10% weight in manufacturing exceeded by 12.1% the low base level of February 2025. Out of the two largest weight representing groups production volume in the manufacture of batteries and accumulators grew by 28%, the manufacture of electric motors, generators, transformers and electricity distribution and control rose by 15.9%.
The manufacture of food products, beverages and tobacco products, having a 13% share in manufacturing, was 0.4% lower than in the same month of the previous year, export sales increased, domestic sales declined. Processing and preserving meat and the production of meat products, representing the largest weight (24%), rose by 4.3% year-on-year. Production increased between 0.1% and 21% in other five groups, too, least of all in the manufacture of grain mill products, starches and starch products, to the greatest extent in the small weight representing manufacture of tobacco products. Output decreased between 0.7% and 26% in the other five groups, least of all in the manufacture of other food products, most of all in the manufacture of vegetable and animal oils and fats.
Out of the two medium weight representing subsections the manufacture of rubber and plastics products and other non-metallic mineral products fell by 9.2%, while the manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment grew by 3.0% compared to the same month of the previous year.
A decrease is going on since April 2025 in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products representing a 4.3% weight in manufacturing: the output in February was 21% lower than in the same month of the previous year, primarily owing to a considerable drop in the manufacture of plastics in primary forms, as well as that of fertilisers and nitrogen compounds.
Out of the subsections the manufacture of coke, and refined petroleum products, having a 2.0% share in manufacturing, lagged behind the most, by 41%, year-on-year, sales fell remarkably in both directions.
