Number of tourist arrivals (nearly 1.7 million) up 11% year-on-year and tourism nights (3.8 million) up 10%
In October 2025, nearly 1.7 million guests spent 3.8 million tourism nights at tourist (commercial, private and other) accommodation establishments1. Tourist arrivals were up by 11% and tourism nights by 10% in number compared to a year earlier, to which the long weekend associated with the October 23 holiday also contributed. In January-October 2025, the number of domestic and international guests arriving to tourist accommodation establishments was 3.0% and 11% higher than in the same period of the previous year.

Overall, the number of tourist arrivals increased by 11% and that of tourism nights spent at tourist accommodation establishments by 10%. Based on seasonally adjusted data, the number of arrivals expanded by 9.8% and that of tourism nights by 6.9% compared to October 2024. 70% of guests arrived at commercial accommodation establishments, where their number grew by 9.5% from the previous year. Private and other accommodation establishments recorded 15% more tourist arrivals than a year earlier.
The number of domestic tourist arrivals and of domestic tourism nights were both 11% higher respectively than in the same month of the previous year. Based on seasonally adjusted data, the number of domestic arrivals grew by 4.6% and that of domestic tourism nights by 5.7% compared to October 2024. The 821 thousand domestic guests spent nearly 1.8 million tourism nights at tourist accommodation establishments, within which commercial accommodation establishments registered 596 thousand tourist arrivals and almost 1.3 million tourism nights. Hotels received 79% of the latter arrivals, where their number grew by 10% compared to a year earlier. The number of domestic tourist arrivals in private and other accommodation was 12% higher than in October 2024. Compared to the same month of the previous year, the number of domestic arrivals increased in all tourism areas2, the most (by 19%) in the Győr and Pannonhalma tourism area. The number of domestic arrivals to tourist accommodation establishments was 20% higher in Budapest and 11% higher at Lake Balaton.
The number of international tourist arrivals was up by 12% and that of international tourism nights by 9.7% compared to the same month of the previous year. Based on seasonally adjusted data, the number of international arrivals grew by 10% and that of international tourism nights by 8.6% compared to October 2024. The 833 thousand international guests having arrived at tourist accommodation establishments spent 2.0 million tourism nights there, of which commercial accommodation establishments registered 569 thousand tourist arrivals and nearly 1.4 million tourism nights. Hotels received 87% of the latter arrivals, where their number was 7.5% higher than a year earlier. The number of foreign tourist arrivals in private and other accommodation establishments was 18% higher than in October 2024. Compared to the same month last year, the number of international arrivals increased most (by 24%) in Greater Budapest and fell most (by 17%) in the Gyula region. The number of international arrivals to tourist accommodation was 15% higher in Budapest and 1.4% higher at Lake Balaton.
A total of 26,460 tourist accommodation establishments, within which 2,494 commercial and 23,966 private or other accommodation establishments welcomed guests.
Of commercial accommodation establishments, 977 hotels and 1,034 boarding houses were open for part or all of October.
The total gross sales revenue of tourist accommodation establishments amounted to HUF 104.2 billion, 14% more at current prices than a year earlier.
Széchenyi Recreation Card was used by cardholders to spend HUF 3.1 billion, 11% more at current prices compared to the same month of the previous year, at tourist accommodation establishments.

Tourist accommodation establishments recorded a total of nearly 16.8 million tourist arrivals, up 6.8%.
The number of domestic and international tourist arrivals was up by 3.0% and 11% respectively (nearly 8.5 million and 8.3 million) in tourist accommodation establishments.
