Completed dwelling investments follow slower the rise in construction sentiment
In the first quarter of 2017, 2,061 new dwellings were built, 47% more than a year earlier. The total number of issued dwelling construction permits and simple declarations was 9,525 or 89% more than in the first quarter of 2016.
In the first quarter of 2017, compared to the same period of the previous year:
the number of dwellings built increased dynamically throughout the country, however, in Budapest, where the larger-scale construction projects have not yet been completed, 51% less new homes were built;
the proportion of dwellings built by individuals increased from 49% to 58%, that of dwellings built by enterprises fell from 50% to 41%;
among the newly built residential buildings, the proportion of detached houses increased from 45% to 59%, while that of multi-storey and multi-dwelling buildings decreased from 48% to 34%;
the average floor-area of homes put to use increased by 13 sq. m to 105 sq. m;
the total number of issued building permits and declarations was 9,525, their number grew more than threefold in Budapest and the growth was 89% at the national level;
based on new construction permits (declarations), 48% more, i.e. a total of 2,879 residential buildings are planned to be built, while the number of permits issued for non-residential buildings decreased year-on-year by 8% to 1,161 units.
