Improving sentiment in construction, one and a half times more new dwellings
In the first three quarters of 2017, 7,981 new dwellings were built, 52% more than a year earlier. The number of dwellings to be built based on issued dwelling construction permits and simple declarations grew by 33% to 28,411 compared to the first three quarters of 2016.

The rise became general in the number of dwellings built showing above average rates in smaller settlements and below average rates in big cities. In Budapest 18% more new dwellings were built.
Within dwelling construction, the share of individuals remained broadly equal to that of enterprises.
The average floor-area of homes put to use increased by 4 sq m to 97 sq m.
The total number of dwellings to be built based on issued dwelling construction permits and declarations increased by an average of 33% to 28,411, within this a more than two-fold increase was registered in Budapest. Builders used simple declarations in 37% of cases, whose share was 12% in Budapest and grew higher moving towards lower level territorial units. This procedure is used in case of nearly three quarters of dwellings currently built in villages.
Based on new construction permits (declarations), 11% more, i.e. a total of 10,203 residential buildings are planned to be built, while the number of permits issued for non-residential buildings (3,999) increased by 20% compared to the previous year.
