Industrial producer prices rise by 4.7% in December and by 5.5% in 2018 on average

Industrial producer prices as a whole were 4.7% higher in December 2018 than in the same period of the previous year. Domestic output prices increased by 6.2% on average, within which the prices of manufacturing, representing a weight of six-tenths, rose by 4.3% and the prices of energy industry (electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply), with a weight of over one-third, by 10% compared to a year earlier. Industrial non-domestic output prices went up by 3.9% compared to December of the previous year.
In 2018 as a whole, industrial producer prices were 5.5% higher than in 2017. The rate of the price rise was influenced over the year by wage growth, forint exchange rate changes and world petroleum market price trends.

In December 2018 compared to December 2017:

Industrial domestic output prices were up by 6.2%. Prices in Hungary increased by 7.8% in energy and intermediate producer branches, by 4.4% in capital goods producer and by 2.4% in consumer goods producer branches out of the end-use groups of the producer branches of industry.

Industrial non-domestic output prices rose by 3.9%, within which prices went up by 3.5% in manufacturing, representing a weight of 96.4%, and – owing to a significant price rise in the international electricity market – by 17% in energy industry, with a weight of 3.4%.

In 2018 compared to the previous year:

Industrial producer prices as a whole were 5.5% higher. Domestic output prices rose by 6.0% on average, within which manufacturing prices by 5.9% and prices in energy industry by 6.6%.

Out of the end-use groups of the producer branches of industry, industrial domestic output prices increased by 7.8% in energy and intermediate producer branches. A price increase of 4.2% was recorded in capital goods producer and of 1.7% in consumer goods producer branches.

Industrial non-domestic output prices were up by 5.2%, within which manufacturing prices were 4.7% and prices in energy industry, representing small weight, 17% higher than in 2017.
