According to preliminary data, 6,650 children were born and 11,723 people died in January 2024. The number of births lessened by 12%, that of deaths by 1.1%, while the number of marriages increased by 37% compared to January 2023.
In January 2024:
A total of 6,650 children were born, 12% or 902 fewer than a year earlier.
11,723 people lost their lives, 1.1% or 134 fewer than in January 2023.
The natural decrease was 5,073, as opposed to 4,305 in January 2023.
1,678 couples got married, which was 37% or 449 more than in January 2023.
There were 8.2 live births and 14.4 deaths per thousand population. The rate of live births was 1.1 per mille points and that of deaths 0.1 per mille points lower than in January 2023, as a result of which the rate of natural decrease increased by 1.0 per mille points to 6.3 per mille. The number of infant deaths was 3.8 per thousand live births, which was 0.8 per mille points more than in the previous January. The marriage rate was 2.1 per mille, 0.6 per mille points higher than a year earlier.
