According to preliminary data, 6,360 children were born and 8,908 people died in August 2025. The number of births lessened by 5.7%, that of deaths by 15% and that of marriages by 5.1% compared to the same month of the previous year.
In August 2025:
A total of 6,360 children were born, 5.7% or 386 fewer than in August 2024.
8,908 people lost their lives, 15% or 1,526 fewer than a year earlier.
The natural decrease was 2,548, as opposed to 3,688 in August 2024.
6,370 couples got married, 5.1% or 343 less than a year earlier.
In January–August 2025:
48,093 children were born, 6.7% or 3,445 fewer than in the same period of the previous year. Within this, the number of live births was 4.2% lower in January, 8.6% lower in February–March, 12% lower in April–May and 3.1% lower in June–August than in the same periods of 2024.
The total fertility rate was estimated at 1.31 per female, compared with 1.38 a year earlier.
There were 82,996 deaths, 1.2% or 1,001 less than one year earlier. 7.8% more people died in January, 0.7% more in February, 7.3% more in March and 1.2% more in April–June, while 15% fewer people died in July–August than in the same months of the previous year.
Due to the balance of births and deaths, the natural decrease was 34,903, 7.5% more than the value of 32,459 for the same period of the previous year.
30,976 couples got married, 5.5% or 1,804 fewer than a year earlier. 9.7% less marriages were registered in January–February, 3.9% less in March–April and 7.8% less in June–August, while 2.4% more marriages took place in May than in the corresponding months of 2024.
There were 7.6 live births and 13.1 deaths per thousand population. The rate of live births was 0.5 per mille points lower, while that of deaths 0.1 per mille points lower than in January–August 2024. The rate of natural decrease increased by 0.4 per mille points to 5.5 per mille. The number of infant deaths was 3.3 per thousand live births, which was 0.8 per mille points lower than in the same period of the previous year. The marriage rate was 4.9 per mille, 0.3 per mille points lower than a year earlier.
