Motor fuel price statistics, April 2025

Based on data in the Weekly Oil Bulletin, published by the EU, the average price of 95-octane petrol was 589 forints in Hungary in the month of April, which was 17 forints or 2.8% lower than the average of 606 forints for neighbouring countries. In countries in the region, the average price in April was 585 forints, the price in Hungary being 0.7% or 4 forints higher. Compared to the figure for the previous month, the average price of 95 petrol was cut by 12 forints in Hungary. In parallel, the averages observed for neighbouring countries and for countries in the region lessened, too, by 1 and 4 forints, respectively.
The monthly average price of diesel motor fuel was 600 forints in Hungary, which was 13 forints or 2.1% lower than the average of 613 forints for neighbouring countries. The average domestic price of diesel motor fuel was 12 forints or 2.0% higher than the regional average price of 588 forints. Compared to the figure for the previous month, the monthly average diesel oil price in Hungary lessened by 18 forints. The average observed for neighbouring countries decreased by 11 forints and that observed for countries in the region by 12 forints compared to March data.
Out of the countries in the region, the average price of petrol in April was higher in Austria, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia and Slovakia than in Hungary. Compared to the figure for the previous month, it went down the most, by 18 forints in Bulgaria.
The average price of 95-octane petrol was less than 5% lower in Czechia, Poland and Romania and more than 10% lower in Bulgaria than in Hungary.
The average price of diesel oil in April was higher in Austria, Serbia and Slovenia than the value in Hungary, however, it was over 15% lower in Bulgaria. Compared to the figure for the previous month, the average price of diesel decreased in all countries in the region, and the largest reductions of 18 forints were recorded for Hungary and Poland.
