Breakdown of external trade in services data by currencies and owners

The breakdown of foreign trade in services data by currency is a pilot statistic of the Central Statistical Office co-funded by the European Union.
The survey presents the breakdown of external trade in services 2023 data of enterprises residents in Hungary by currency, along with the ownership structure.
The primary objective of the project is to provide a detailed and comprehensive overview of the proportion of enterprises involved in external trade in services using different currencies - mainly the HUF, the EUR or currencies of other states - in their activities. The research also aims to provide relevant background information for policy makers.
The turnover of domestically owned enterprises in external trade in services has been realised in EUR in a proportion of 52% in in import and 59% in export, followed by the HUF, with a share of 25% in import and 18% in export. The export turnover of these units in US dollar was 16%. Following the three mentioned currencies, the pound sterling accounted for 2% in import trade.
The EUR accounted for 64% of foreign-owned enterprises' turnover in import and 46% in export trade direction. The HUF was their second most commonly used export currency with 23%, followed by the US dollar with 17%. In the fourth and fifth places in export were the pound sterling with a share of 3.2% and the Polish zloty with 2.8%.
Considering all companies, the EUR accounted for 60% in import and for 49% in export, the HUF participated with 15% and 22% and the US dollar with 14% and 16%.
