Volume change in industrial production in the Member States of the European Union, December 2025, the year 2025

The volume of industrial production, based on calendar adjusted data, grew by 1.4% in the European Union in December 2025, year-on-year. Industrial output was larger in the majority of the member states compared to the previous year, the largest growth (6.9%) occurring in Poland followed by Sweden (4.8%) and Croatia (4.5%) in the ranking. The largest decrease occurred in Slovakia (8.5%).
Based on calendar adjusted data the December 2025 production volume in industry was below the one year earlier level by 1.0% in Hungary1. Considering the Visegrad countries industrial performance grew in Czechia and Poland, by 3.8% and 6.9%, and decreased by 8.5% in Slovakia.
Industrial output increased by 0.9% in Hungary, and lessened by 0.8% in the EU as a whole compared to the previous month. The performance of Luxembourg grew the most, by 6.4% among the member states.
The volume of industrial production surpassed in the EU the one year earlier level by 1.5% in 2025, in Hungary lagged behind it by 3.6%.
Based on unadjusted data the volume of the December 2025 industrial production surpassed the one year earlier level by 1.8% in Hungary. Production volume increased in the majority of the manufacturing subsections (between 2.1% - 38.0%). Production in the electronics industry, accounting for 14% of manufacturing output grew by 38%. Among the two other large weight representing subsections a 6.5% volume growth occurred in the food industry, the manufacture of transport equipment registered a 1.0% increase year-on-year.
According to the prognosis of Trading Economics2 ndustrial production is going to grow in Hungary, quarterly by 1.8% - 3.5%, year-on-year, in the period between the 1st and 4th quarters of 2026.
